Who is Kathie Palladino?

I am the wife of Lou Palladino, who is my best friend and God-given provider, protector and leader. I am also the mother of six children and presently 11 grandchildren. My goal in life is to tell others about their Creator and the way to l’chaim (life), receiving physical healing through obedience to the Instructions (Torah--first five books of the Bible) and spiritual healing through acceptance of Yeshua/Jesus as Savior. My main goal in life is to be a Proverbs 31 woman.
For the past 31 years, I have been studying about nutrition, health (both medical and natural), and back-to-basics bread making. The path to true health began when I realized that it was my family’s diet that was not only "killing" my daughter, but was also causing my immune system to plunge constantly into all sorts of illness. Basically, it was the sin of disobedience to the Scriptures that was the culprit. I could have passed this off to "eating too much junk food," but in essence, it was purely disobedience.
My journey began when my daughter, Leslie, was constantly being rushed to the doctor with ear infections, extremely high fevers, vomiting, stomach cramping, headaches, etc. Each month she was diagnosed with the same problem, "ear infection," and sent home with a prescription for antibiotics, each time getting a much stronger dose. Leslie’s body at five years old could not handle the barrage of medicines, so she began getting worse and worse until her temperatures would range at or near the 105 mark. It finally dawned on me that the doctors were not curing Leslie or even helping her, so I started out on a journey for healing that has not ended.
In desperation, I headed for the health food stores. My step-grandfather was a vegetarian. He periodically would tell me little bits about health and diet. With these tidbits, I figured a health food store might have something to cure my daughter and help keep my health bills down.
After searching for about an hour, I came across a small book on a specific diet and a type of fasting. I brought it home, tried it on myself with miraculous results and then tested it on my daughter. She improved from the first day! What did I remove from her diet? Almost everything! Except fresh fruits and veggies, simple whole grain crackers, freshly-squeezed juices and periodic poultry and fish. After some time we began adding other foods to our diet until we were back to a normal lifestyle without junk food, heavy amounts of red meat, or pasteurized dairy products.
The point here is this: Leslie was sick because of diet. Once the bad foods were removed, basically sugars and pasteurized dairy products, her immune system kicked in and she became the picture of perfect health.
Several years passed before I would become further interested in health, diet and nutrition again. This time it was because we had slipped back into the SAD or Sad American Diet. I was beginning to get bronchitis, migraines, PMS, and other problems. And, this was all on a monthly basis...always sick...always SAD.
About that time, we attended an Institute in Basic Life Principles Conference. Part of the session centered around health and nutrition. We were given the chance to sign up for a set of books that were written by doctors and health practitioners, who were tired of not seeing healing results from their intensive medical training and practices.
After reading these remarkable booklets, we realized that one of the items missing in our lives was healthy bread! So, I began reading about and studying the benefits of making bread from scratch.
At that time, I did not have a grinder or the money to purchase one, but I did have a VitaMix machine. I used this daily to grind fresh grains and make breads by hand, no bread machine. The bread I made was heavy and tough, mainly because the VitaMix was just not able to make flour that was fine enough. However, we saw immediate results.
Soon my husband became wearied with my constant struggle to make bread by hand, usually five loaves at a time; and, decided to purchase the first breadmaker on the market. This was a DAK Bakery machine, which I still have. It saved a lot of time, but the bread was still quite heavy due to the lack of a grinder, but I persevered.
I also removed all white substances from our diets: white sugar, white flour, white rice, etc. We all began to feel better and none of us was getting sick anymore. Because I was a sugar-aholic, I was not able to break the "sugar blues" routine, so I made a vow to the Lord not to eat anything made with white sugar again. This was the only way out of my sugar-suicide attempts.
Upon moving to North Carolina, after losing our home in Homestead, FL to Hurricane Andrew and being faced with Y2K and other world events, my husband and I decided that it was high time we started considering the future. We purchased our home, which because of its layout, flowing creeks, trees and shalom (peace), was named Green Pastures. Psalm 23 spoke to us of this place, thus we gave it the fitting title.
Since we felt we were going the wrong direction in our diet, we decided "everything" that was important to our life maintenance had to be considered. We had to go back to the basics to get things right in every area. This meant some major changes. As we followed the Scriptures, we began seeing not only the health benefits, but also the blessings from the Father for being obedient to His Word. At the time, we didn’t even realize we were actually heading that way.
Some of our major changes were:
** purchasing and raising Nubian dairy goats to get fresh milk, yogurt, and cheeses that were healthy and unpasteurized, from goats that had not received vaccines, hormones, or antibiotics.
** acquiring good quality poultry and laying hens for food and eggs. We also fed these animals whole grains, grasses, veggie scraps, and no vaccines, hormones, or antibiotics.
** studying the reasons that ALL vaccines, hormones (including those for humans), and antibiotics actually bringing disease, destroying the immune system and altering the chemical balance the Father gave us at birth.
** purchasing a distiller for water since we were on a deep well that produced water containing iron. We were grateful we no longer had water from FL with all sorts of chemicals including fluoride and chlorine, both deadly poisons!
** drinking several glasses of water per day to keep our bodies hydrated. Dehydration has been found to be the cause of many ailments.
** keeping a close eye on the amount of sleep received as well as at least 30 minutes of sun per day. Our children get 10-12 hours sleep per night! This extra sleep and home schooling helps to keep their stress levels down considerably.
** learning the importance of eating and growing organic veggies and fruit.
** learning to make meals from scratch instead of purchasing pre-made or pre-packaged products, which generally contain unhealthy sugars and unnecessary chemicals.
** learning to purchase foods in bulk in order to save considerable amounts of money.
** removing stress from our home and lives by not having a television or listening to radio programs. We keep our home quiet and prayerful. If music is played it is honoring to our Creator. If we watch a periodic video, it too is honoring to our Creator. Our desire is to be able to hear the voice of the Spirit of God speak to us in His "still, small voice." Clatter and noise produce stress and many times an unholy environment.
** deciding not to use the services of doctors, dentists or health practitioners except in extreme conditions. We have given our lives to our Creator, our Father, who has lovingly keep us safe and healthy. He is our Great Physician!
** We were "called out" of the "church" and became Messianic Believers. Our family follows the Old and New Covenants as one book. They were never meant to be separated, but joined together through the teachings of Yeshua/Jesus and His disciples, including Shaul (Paul). Yeshua came to fulfill the Old Covenant or "fill it full." Nothing was to be done away with until ALL had been fulfilled. ALL has not been fulfilled yet, which leaves the entire Old and Renewed Covenants as one. The Old Covenant is not made up of "good stories," but instructions to the children of a loving Father.
** By following what Yeshua/Jesus, His disciples and Shaul/Paul taught about the Torah (the first 5 books of the Scriptures - the Books of Moses), we have learned the proper way of eating–eating Biblically Kosher, or eating the food, which our Creator designated as "clean." By eating these, we have healed our bodies, become obedient and are able to approach the throne of our God physically clean. In essence, we are being BLESSED daily!
** We have also learned that our Father tells us if we do not want the diseases or plagues of the Eyptians (pagan unbelievers) placed upon us, that we need to abstain from what the unbelievers do. We need to obey his commandments, statutes and judgments. These are not hard, as we, through our Savior, have circumcised hearts, which give us the desire to be obedient. Yeshua said that His yoke is easy and His burden is light; however, it is still a yoke and we are gladly yoked to our Savior in obedience to His Word, not the words of men, which produces a burdensome, heavy yoke.
** Our Father also warned us about keeping his "appointed times" and not those of the world. The world’s appointed times are realized through the worship of gods. These "holidays" are an abomination to the Creator, as He had already established His "Holy Days" and the true Sabbath before the world began. Our family repented of celebrating god and goddess days such as Sunday worship, Easter, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Halloween. We also went back to the original Sabbath, which was designed from the beginning of the world, the 7th day. It is not Jewish; it was created for man to rest from his labors and worship his Creator. This was a gift to man from his loving Creator. We now rest on the 7th day and celebrate the Feasts and Holy Days of Scripture, which were given to us as a foreshadow (or shadow picture) of wonderful things to come!
