I have many favorite reference books, DVD’s, and videos for cooking, health and nutrition, herbs, gardening, Scripture, being Messianic, etc. As I remember each one, it will be placed in this list. We also have a section for
Links of Interest. I have found that many of the items below can be purchased used from different websites like eBay.com or amazon.com. And, if your live in the tri-state area, we do have a great lending library. It is free. You can keep the items for up to 2 weeks. BOOK: Holy Cow! Does God Care About What We Eat? - Hope Egan
Excellent - wonderful explanation about the benefits of eating biblically kosher
BOOK: What the Bible Says About Healthy Living - Dr. Rex
Russell
Great book - he doesn’t think we should eat eggs and milk, but I believe he is
speaking from eating those bought in the grocery stores. We don’t eat those
either. Raw milk and farm eggs are terrific sources of nutrition.
BOOK: Good Teeth Birth to Death - The Prescription for Perfect
Teeth Revised Edition
Dr. Gerald F. Judd, Ph.D. Professor, Chemist and Researcher, January
1997
Dr. Judd's informative book demonstrates how poor diet and improper tooth
hygiene are causes of tooth decay and tooth loss. This book was written to
bring everyone the secret of how to have strong, non-decaying teeth throughout
their life. We have followed his advise for years!
BOOK: How to Have Healthy Children in Spite of Your Doctor and
Confessions of a Medical Heretic (2 books)-

Wonderful books-wish it had been around years ago! Dr.
Mendelsohn gets right to the point about today’s modern medicine and its
effect on children and adults. A must for parents and grandparents! Personally I believe
many doctors would benefit from these books!
BOOK: Vaccines - Are They Really Safe & Effective - Neil Z.
Miller
Another one of those books that every parent and grandparent should read. If you
still believe that vaccines are safe and effective, you should read Miller’s
book.
BOOK: The Maker’s Diet - Dr. Jordon S. Rubin
Rubin does a wonderful job of explaining how many diseases can be cured when the
proper nutrition is applied. His story from "bones" to health is
amazing!
BOOK: Goats Produce Too! -
Probably one of the best books to help goat owners with the uses of milk and
meat. I highly recommend it!
BOOK: Nourishing Traditions - Sally Fallon
Fallon is not kosher, but some of her ideas for food preservation and healthy
eating are excellent.
BOOKS: The Woman’s Day Enclyclopedia of Cookery - 12 Volume
set published 1966.
These are the best cookbooks I’ve ever owned. They are very hard to come by,
but occasionally I find a few at thrift shops and save them until I have an
entire set. They are online at zShops, but the people want quite a bit for them.
They are an encyclopedia and recipe book collection. But ONLY purchase the ‘66
publications.
BOOK: The Living CookBook - Yvonne Turnbull - Published
1981,1983
This is another difficult book to find, but if you do find it, hang on to it!
Yvonne had her own cooking show on the 700 Club in the ‘80's. Her recipe book
is superb. Most of the 100's of recipes are very healthy. I had to make very few
changes. She also adds additional information to many of her sections that are
really helpful.
BOOK: Natural Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know About
- Kevin Trudeau
A very controversial man has written a very enlightening book. Given to me
as a gift, Mr. Trudeau's book helped me to find the answer to a serious illness,
cancer! Be sure to read "Chapter 6!"
BOOK: How To Keep Slim, Healthy and Young with Juice Fasting
- Dr. Paavo Airola - Published 1971-1982
This book is a must for those who are serious about their health. It is
hard to find. You might check out amazon.com or ebay.com The
book is old, the author is deceased and the original price was only about $4. Be
careful of being suckered in to purchasing this book at a very high price.
BOOK: Prescription for Nutritional Healing - Balch &
Balch - Several editions available, so get the one you can afford
This is a great diagnostic manual to have around the house. The Balches
have given incredible amounts of information to help you decide whether to go
alternative health care or medical/pharmaceutical. In fact, they even go
so far as to tell you what will happen if you choose to head toward the medical/pharma.
They also give you many helpful ideas for curing or putting the illness under
control. The latest edition at this time is by Phyllis Balch
(deceased). It is the 4th Edition. However, all of them are good.
BOOK: Complete Home Medical Guide - American College of
Physicians - 2003
This authoritative medical reference is another great diagnostic manual for your
home. It has over 2,000 full-color images plus many of the best online
medical sites to help you discover the reason for your illness. This was a
gift to me by some special friends. And, this is the book that helped me
diagnose the problem Lou was having with his leg in early 2008. A little
pricey, but check amazon.com or ebay.com for the best prices. If you
purchase this book from a retail store, it could cost as much as $50.

If there has ever been a book that every person should read, besides the Bible,
it would be this one. This book explains the 7 stresses or sins, which
attack 7 areas of the body. It helps us to realize the 3 reasons for
sickness and how to rid our bodies, souls and spirits of the stresses causing
the disease. A great family Bible study. This book is not Messianic.
However, Torah is mentioned in a round-about way.
BOOK: Stalking the Healthful Herbs - Euell Gibbons
A delightful book on the nutritional and medicinal properties of wild herbs and
plants. The lore contained in it can make the woods and fields a
never-ending source of well-being and good health. Great book for natural
recipes, remedies, beverages, infusions and much good humor. Unique.
BOOK: The Encyclopedia of Edible Plants of North America -
Nature's Green Feast - Francois Couplan, Ph.D.
Excellent book for those serious about wild edibles and herbal medicinals.
Very few photographs, so you will need a companion book.
DVD: The Raw Gourmet - 3 DVDs
A wonderful demonstration of food making and presentation for those desiring to
learn how to use RAW foods.

Great book about an Orthodox Jewish rabbi who used his rabbinic education to
find the truth about Messiah. True Story! Wonderful!

from the Rabbinic writings. This is for serious Torah students. Please remember
though that commentary is just that...a person’s comments.

A small book filled with info and how-to’s for the 7th day Sabbath.

My children say this is their most favorite film about the Passover. It is set
in a traditional Israeli setting and teachings much about the early 1st
Century Pesach - Passover.

BOOK: Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs
& Cats - Pitcairn and Pitcairn - 2 editions available
Great book for pet owners. You will find recipes for food, things to do
for health and emergencies, what-to-do-if's and much more. The only thing
I have found which doesn't fit my belief system is their teaching on homeopathy
and vegetarianism. Pitcairn quotes only one person and in that section
makes it plain that if a person is not vegan or vegetarian, he is going to be
very sick or die. Other than that, this is probably one of the most
comprehensive guides to natural health care I've seen.
BOOK: Joy of Gardening - Dick Raymond
This is my all-time favorite gardening how-to book. It is filled
wonderful photos, lots of encouraging words, many ideas you've probably never
heard of. You will love it. You can probably find it used at
amazon.com or ebay.com My best buy was $.78 plus shipping and it is worth
oodles!

If there has been one DVD come into our house this year which has made the
greatest impact, I would say it is this one. It addresses the issues of
single girls waiting for their mates and learning the incredible value of a
father-daughter relationship. There are also some excellent extras.
You won't want to miss this one.
BOOK: Do It Yourself Emergency Preparedness - Arlene R.

Stephanie in NC says: If you are new to emergency preparedness, this is
the book for you. It is written in an easy conversational style but the
information is detailed and up-to-date. It covers everything from how to
make your initial preparedness checklist to detailed information about water,
food, heating/cooling, cooking/refrigeration, light, communication, power
generation, medicine, security, terrorism (biological and otherwise) and the
psychology of survival. This is a secular book and the psychology section
is written from that point of view but is still useful on a practical level in
thinking through how you will mentally approach these situations. Other
chapters interspersed throughout the book give you a break from all the learning
by using a "real time scenario" approach. In these chapters a
scenario is given and you actually get to walk through the scenario with two or
more families, comparing their reactions and levels of preparedness. This
will really help you to evaluate your own family dynamics and the appropriate
preparedness preparations for your particular situation.

These books will keep you reading into the wee hours of the morning. They
are "can't put them down" books. What happens when a 19 yr old
boy leaves home and heads into the jungles to evangelize a murderous tribe of
South American Indians? For Bruce Olson it meant capture, disease, terror,
loneliness, kidnapping, and torture. But what he discovered by trial and
error has revolutionized the world of missions. Bruce did not go out with
permission from a mission board or with other missionaries. He stood alone
and the Lord used him. Great books!

These DVDs are straightforward, heartfelt and genuine. That is what the Chicago
Sun-Times has to say. When the students of TN's Whitwell Middle School
began studying the Holocaust as a way to learn about intolerance and diversity,
nobody could have predicted the results. In 2001, the Paper Clip Project
culminated in a unique memorial that changed the lives of those who created it,
as well as touching Holocaust survivors and countless communities. You
will enjoy this one...and so will your children.
