THE GOSPEL TRUTH -- SALVATION
Why Do I Have No Inner Peace, Joy or
Contentment?
Have you ever wondered why you feel like you are running around going nowhere? Have you considered that all your days seem to be the same, although they may be filled with fun, friends and activities; you still know something very important is missing in your life? Do you keep waiting and looking for that something new only to find that what you think it is, isn’t anything more than the same old thing again? And, still no inner peace, no contentment, and no real happiness.
There can be many reasons for this. How do I know? I’ve been there. I spent many years of my life attempting to find happiness and inner peace through relationships, things, happenings, etc. Then one day as I was seeking these things and in despair, I was told what was really missing in my li--it was the Lord Yeshua*/Jesus, the Messiah (Christ). Now don’t stop reading just yet. I have to tell you that this was the most important and exciting time of my entire life and how you can find it also. Seriously find life!
Some of you are saying, “Well, I’m already a Christian. I believe in the Lord.” So, I ask you this simple question: “How do you know you are a Believer?” If God is all wise and all knowing, He knows who are truly His and who are not. He tells us verses in the Bible to help us be sure we are His. What am I saying? There must be outward signs of His life being lived out through us and in us. You might want to read the book of the Scriptures called 1 John. Here you will find information showing you some of the outward signs of being a Believer.
Some of these signs are called the “fruit of the Spirit.” What is that? Well, it is what the Holy Spirit (God’s Spirit) gives us as we walk with Him everyday. Here are the fruit or signs of the Holy Spirit working in our lives: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, self control." (Galatians 5:22a)
Can you honestly say you are seeing these in your life? Do others see them in your life? If not, maybe you are really not a Believer after all. Possibly you just went through a salvation “ritual” of sorts and never really understood what was happening at that time. Maybe you just “asked Jesus into your heart” and never repented or even understood fully what was happening. Maybe you were a young child and no one actually took the time to explain who God or Jesus is or what sin, repentance and salvation really means.
I'm
not sure if you remember the gospel, but what the Lord is asking you to do is to
put Him
first.
He wants to have a
special
relationship
with
you—one that is greater than anything else on this earth.
But you must know the truth about salvation.
What did the Lord Himself say,
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at
hand.”
(Matthew 4:17)
You must first realize that you
are a sinner and repent of your sins. What
does this mean? It means to turn
away from the things you are doing, which He says are wrong, those words,
thoughts, and deeds He calls sin. You
must turn away from them and stay away. You
must know that the Lord’s blood, shed for you on the
cross/stake, paid for your sin. And,
that He rose again, as He said He would, to prove that He is the Savior of the
world and your personal
Savior.
He
promises never to leave you or forsake you in problems or troubles.
If you are the one who left Him, it is your job to turn around, repent
and run back
to His open arms.
And, be obedient to all of his words in Scripture from Genesis to
Revelation.
However, He will test you to be
sure you mean what you say. So, if
you trusted in Him as your personal Savior, knowing that He alone paid for your
sins with His blood,
when you begin to have problems, call must
call on His name and ask for help. He is the only
One
who can truly help you. In fact He tells us in the Scriptures that in the
day of trouble we are to
call out loud
to Him for help. (Psalm 50:15)
After becoming a Believer, you
must live for Him, study His Word (Bible) and speak with Him daily (prayer).
You should then begin to see the “fruit of the Spirit” come into your
life. You will know He has become a
part of you and the two of you together will make an unbeatable “pair.”
Here are some verses from the
Bible to help you get started. Think
on these and ask yourself if you believe them.

John 1:9-10 If
we acknowledge our sins, then, since He is trustworthy and just, He will forgive
them and purify us from all wrongdoing. If we claim we have not been
sinning, we are making Him out to be a liar, and His Word is not in us. Also read 1 Jo 1:6-8.
John 3:16-17 "For
God so loved the world that He gave His only and unique Son, so that everyone
who trusts in Him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed.
For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but rather so
that through Him, the world might be saved.
Ephesians 2:8-10 For
you have been delivered by grace through trusting [faith], and even this is not
your
accomplishment
but God's gift. You were not delivered by your own actions; therefore no
one should boast.
For we are of God's making,
created in union with the Messiah Jesus for a life of good actions [deeds] already
prepared by God for us to do.
Your first and most important good
deeds or actions are toward your family. Show them and tell them of your
new walk with the Lord. Then you can
reach out and tell others about what He has done for you.
