ROSE, HIBISCUS, ORANGE ZEST TEA

This is one of our newest teas that is very "floral" and citrusy.  One thing I found was that it is thirst quenching.

You can purchase rose petals and hibiscus calyces from anyone who sells herbs.  I like Frontier Herbs for most of my things, but some come from Ameriherb.  Also, if you grow non-hybrid roses, you can save the petals from the newly opening buds and dry them.  Once they are thoroughly dry you can place them in a jar and save for teas, etc.  The hibiscus petals are better purchased from an herb store as they are not, to my knowledge, the same as those grown in most flower gardens.

Side note:  Rose petals are a blood tonic and stimulate the liver.
Hibiscus and orange zest add a tangy flavor and Vitamin C.
This is a great winter beverage for colds and flus.

HOW TO:  (One or more cups)

In your tea ball, Tea Ball, coffee/tea press, add the following for each cup:

2 tsp fresh or dried rose petals
1 tsp dried hibiscus calyces
1/2 tsp grated orange zest (rind) (or use a lime or lemon - wash thoroughly)
1 cup boiling water

Steep for 10 minutes.  Strain if needed, and drink hot.
Drink 1 to 2 cups each day.

Enjoy,
Kathie
